Opening Prayer

Call to Worship
Isaiah 53:4–11 (ESV)

Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth;
like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he opened not his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
and as for his generation, who considered
that he was cut off out of the land of the living,
stricken for the transgression of my people?
And they made his grave with the wicked
and with a rich man in his death,
although he had done no violence,
and there was no deceit in his mouth.

10  Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;
he has put him to grief;
when his soul makes an offering for guilt,
he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11  Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;
by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,
make many to be accounted righteous,
and he shall bear their iniquities.

Hymn: “Oh, How Good It Is”
Words and music by Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, Ross Holmes, and Stuart Townend

Oh, how good it is when the family of God
dwells together in spirit in faith and unity.
Where the bonds of peace, of acceptance and love
are the fruits of His presence here among us.

So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord;
and with one heart we’ll live out His Word.
Till the whole earth sees the Redeemer has come,
for He dwells in the presence of His people.

Oh, how good it is on this journey we share
to rejoice with the happy and weep with those who mourn.
For the weak find strength, the afflicted find grace
when we offer the blessing of belonging.

So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord;
and with one heart we’ll live out His Word.
Till the whole earth sees the Redeemer has come,
for He dwells in the presence of His people.

Oh, how good it is to embrace His command
to prefer one another, forgive as He forgives.
When we live as one, we all share in the love
of the Son with the Father and the Spirit.

So with one voice we’ll sing to the Lord;
and with one heart we’ll live out His Word.
Till the whole earth sees the Redeemer has come,
for He dwells in the presence of His people.

Song: “Jesus Lifted Me”
By Brooke Ligertwood, Jason Ingram, Logan Cain, Madison Cain Johnson, Taylor Cain Matz.

I’m so glad to testify about the One who saved my life.
The power of the blood is the reason I’m alive.
I thank God day and night I’m not where I used to be.
Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

When I was a sinner, Jesus lifted me.
I was a sinner so blind I could not see.
Before He ever crossed my mind, He took the cross for me,
Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

I’m so glad to testify about the One who saved my life.
The power of the blood is the reason I’m alive.
I thank God day and night I’m not where I used to be.
Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me.
I was in trouble, was sinking down so deep.
Before I’d ever called His name, He was calling out to me.
Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

I’m so glad to testify about the One who saved my life.
The power of the blood is the reason I’m alive.
I thank God day and night I’m not where I used to be.
Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

How could I not lift my hands? How could I not lift You high?
How could I not lift my voice to sing?
Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

I am forgiven. Jesus, You lifted me.
I am forgiven; all my sins washed clean.
Because You gave Your life for me, I will give You everything.

Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.
Glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

Song: “You Are My King (Amazing Love”)
Words and Music: Billy J. Foote.

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken.
I’m accepted; You were condemned.
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me
because You died and rose again.

Amazing love, how can it be
that You, my King, should die for me?
Amazing love, I know it’s true.
It’s my joy to honor You.
In all I do, I honor You.

You are my King.
You are my King.
Jesus, You are my King
Jesus, You are my King.

Time of Prayer

Sermon: “What Must I Do to Inherit Eternal Life?”
Mark 10:32–45 (ESV)
32 And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. And they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, 33 saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles. 34 And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.”

35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” 36 And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” 37 And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” 38 Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” 39 And they said to him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized, 40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.” 41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John. 42 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Hymn: “God of Grace”
Words and music: Keith Getty and Jonathan Rea.

God of grace, amazing wonder, irresistible and free;
oh, the miracle of mercy, Jesus reaches down to me.
God of grace, I stand in wonder, as my God restores my soul.
His own blood has paid my ransom, awesome cost to make me whole.

God of grace, who loved and knew me long before the world began;
Sent my Savior down from heaven; perfect God and perfect man.
God of grace, I trust in Jesus; I’m accepted as His own.
Every day His grace sustains me, as I lean on Him alone.

God of grace, I stand astounded, cleansed, forgiven and secure.
All my fears are now confounded, and my hope is ever sure.
God of grace, now crowned in glory, where one day I’ll see Your face;
And forever I’ll adore You in Your everlasting grace.

Benediction
1 Peter 5:14b (ESV)
Peace to all of you who are in Christ.
